Global Program for the Support of Women’s Empowerment and Development

The Global Program for the Support of Women’s Empowerment and Development is the sectoral framework through which the World Association for Development (WAD) structures its action in favour of the empowerment, autonomy, and active participation of women in economic, social, and institutional development processes.

The Program supports States and their partners in the development of policies and mechanisms fostering women’s access to education, vocational training, economic resources, essential services, and social protection, with a view to strengthening their independence, resilience, and full participation in development dynamics.

The Program intervenes notably in the areas of gender equality, the fight against discrimination, women’s economic empowerment, access to decent employment, the strengthening of leadership and civic participation, the protection of women’s rights, and the mainstreaming of gender into national development policies and strategies.

Through this programmatic approach, WAD aims to reduce gender inequalities, strengthen the economic and social autonomy of women, and promote more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development models, in alignment with national priorities and international commitments relating to gender equality and sustainable human development.
