A solidarity-based initiative designed to bring educational resources closer to the pupils and students who need them most.

The World Association for Development (AMD) considers access to education an essential lever for reducing inequalities and promoting human development. Recognizing that many pupils and students have the abilities needed to succeed but remain constrained by insufficient educational resources, AMD has established a School and University Book Bank to support learners from vulnerable families.

Through this initiative, the Association provides pupils, students and educational institutions with textbooks and educational materials adapted to their needs. The initiative aims to reduce material barriers that affect study conditions and enable beneficiaries to access the resources necessary to continue their school or university education.

The system is based on collecting new or well-preserved books from educational institutions, partners, public institutions, businesses and donors. The collected books are sorted, catalogued and distributed to the institutions or learners who need them most. This mechanism facilitates a more organized distribution of resources and promotes their reuse for the benefit of several generations of pupils and students.

The Book Bank primarily targets children and young people living in disadvantaged environments, where purchasing textbooks often represents a significant financial burden for families. By facilitating access to educational materials, AMD contributes to improving learning conditions, reducing inequalities among learners and supporting the continuity of educational pathways.

The activities carried out have increased the availability of books for certain beneficiaries and helped reduce expenses related to the acquisition of school materials. They have also encouraged the circulation of educational resources between donors, institutions and communities, while promoting more sustainable use of books that remain suitable for reuse.

Beyond the support provided to learners, this initiative promotes a culture of solidarity, sharing and responsibility. Reusing books extends their useful life, reduces waste and contributes to more rational management of educational resources.

Through the School and University Book Bank, the World Association for Development reaffirms its commitment to making knowledge accessible to as many people as possible.
